Hydrant Flushing

The City of Abilene will begin routine hydrant flushing beginning April 17, 2017 and continue through estimated end of the first week of May, 2017.

Residents living in areas where flushing is taking place may experience a drop in the home's water pressure or see rust-colored water coming from their pipe.  While the water is safe for drinking or bathing, the fire department  recommends residents wait a few hours before doing laundry.  It will take a little time for the water to clear after flushing is completed.

The following schedule is contingent upon weather.

(Section 1 is north of Interstate 70 and Section 2 is north of 14th St to I-70)

(Section 3 is located from Buckeye West to Mud Creek, First Street to 14th)
