Citizens can now download several free apps designed by CivicPlus to complement the City of Abilene's website. The apps will integrate directly with the City's website and allow citizens to provide information directly to the City from a compatible mobile device. At this time, apps are only compatible with Apple's iPhone, iPod Touch, and the iPad; Android-compatible applications are in development and will be available soon. Citizens wanting to download the apps will be taken to the iTunes Store.
Citizen Request Tracker App
The free, simple and easy to use Citizen Request Tracker TM app gives the City of Abilene - and its residents and business owners - the same citizen-power to report civic issues and the integrated municipal tracking capabilities that were previously available only in large metropolitan areas.
When a citizen observes an issue (pothole, graffiti, abandoned car, etc.), they can quickly submit a photo and description of the problem. Using the iPhone's GPS technology, the app automatically pinpoints and sends the exact location of the concern.
The request is routed straight to the City's Citizens Request Tracker System and directed to the people that can address the problem. This reduces cost and improves staff efficiency. The citizen receives a confirmation email and can view the status of the request along with comments posted by the City's staff.
