The City Commission has declared a
Water Emergency for the City of Abilene and its wholesale water customers. This declaration was adopted with the passage of
Resolution No. 042213-5. The declaration will become effective following publication of the resolution in the official City newspaper. The Water Emergency shall be effective until such time as the City Commission shall adopt a resolution ending the declared
Water Emergency.
The City of Abilene has developed a memorandum explaining how the Water Emergency will be implemented. All water customers are asked to conserve water and limit all non-essential uses of water.
At this time, the declaration does not affect property owners that have private wells, although well owners are encouraged to voluntarily conserve water during the Water Emergency.
Water customers are also advised that there is a standing prohibition on outside watering between the hours of 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm (City Code, Section 7-903). This prohibition is effective from May 1 through September 30.
