Unemployment Fraud - Identity Verification

Many Kansans were victims of identity theft by persons filing fraudulent unemployment claims under their names.  Those victims who are now attempting to file valid unemployment benefit claims are still being further victimized by delays in processing their claims while efforts are made to assure the claims are valid.  To assist those victims, the Abilene Police Department has opted in to a program to assist the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) in moving these valid claims forward.

If you were a victim who was informed by the KDOL your identity was used fraudulently to file for unemployment benefits and you are now trying to apply for unemployment benefits:

  1. Complete the Identify Verification - Law Enforcement Office form K-FRD 102 developed by the KDOL.  This form is also printed and available in the lobby of the police department.
  2. Bring the form into the Abilene Police Department located at 419 N Broadway during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  3. You must provide one or two documents based on the federal Form I-9 requirements in order for the police department to verify your identification.
  4. The Abilene Police Department will then send the form to the Kansas Department of Labor.
